The 3M™ Scotchlite™ silver reflective transfer film 8712N on high-visibility clothing subject to lower stress, such as industrial and occupational garments, leisure wear and accessories helps to enhance the visibility of the wearer at night or in low-light conditions. The material shines white when illuminated, even if the wearer is at the roadside. It is comprised of exposed retroreflective glass beads bonded to a durable polymer layer coated with a heat-activated adhesive. 3M's reflective film meets ISO 20471 requirements, but easily exceeds the minimum reflections values required at the highest performance level, thus greatly improving the visibility of people. It offers good value for money for high-visibility and occupational garments that require greater durability laundered at home. The reflective transfer film 8712N is easily washable at home up to 60°C (25 cycles as per ISO 20471). Dry cleaning is also possible (25 cycles as per ISO 20471). The material itself can be used on delicate fabrics. When it comes to tough fabrics, the user can choose any care procedure. Another advantage: The material is assimilated through lamination and is thus permanently bonded to the garment without adding bulk. There is therefore no limit to design freedom, for example through the use of logos and applications, even on elastic materials. In addition, the film is available in various widths and shapes and can be printed and plotted on. This means that individual designs can be implemented easily. Moreover, the retroreflective properties of the material are independent of the grain on the garment and achieve a good impact even when wet. This means good visibility is ensured for many angles of incidence and even in poor weather conditions. The patented glass bead technology of 3M ensures a very textile appearance, making the fabric flexible and light and creating a high degree of wear comfort.
